Hello all,

I'm trying to find out if and when there will be any graphics cards out with HDMI outputs, are these already available? If so what brand and cards are there please?

Thanks

One question, why?

I built 4 pc's for a work collegue, he likes to have all the latest gadgets ie mobiles pc's hifi's and anything else you care to mention. He now wants to upgrade his cards in the machines i built him, so of course he wants HDMI outs.
:D

It's just that it doesn't add anything but cost. A Leadtek 7900GS with HDCP costs less than a 7600GT with HDMI. Functionally no difference. I know which I'd rather have. ;)

Isn't DVI basically just HDMI without the sound? And I believe there's DVI-HDMI cables available, and I also think I read HDCP will work just as well through DVI as HDMI.

Don't shoot me if I'm wrong though, just stuff I read :D

afaik you are correct, DVI = HDMI without sound, and the cables/converters are available cause i own one and it works great ;)

Yep it's actually the gc that needs to be HDCP compliant not the cable. Get a decent DVI-D to HDMI cable and a seperate sound connection. I just purchased a 8800 GTS and connected it to my Sony LCD, works perfectly.

A word of warning, I had a ATI X1900XT and I had terrible problems getting it to recognise the lcd as a proper monitor, wouldn't show post, basically corrupt edid info and terrible drivers.
