HDMI out not working - any ideas?

I just got a new laptop, and the HDMI wont work properly. The image will only flicker on for about a second every minute (on the external display).

My laptop has an ATI 6670M, or something like that anyway. I think the problem is due to the dual graphics (sharing ports with the one built into the CPU).

Has anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

All drivers are up to date.

Laptop is a HP envy 17.

Flickering usually means the end device's resolution is not capable of handling what the HDMI on the laptop is outputting. The best idea is to use Windows+P to select "Extended". Then select a lower resolution for the second screen

Or not. Just a suggestion

Id recommend trying different settings and rebooting the system with the HDMI cable already connected to the external display, sometimes thats what it takes to get it working but i only know that from an Nvidia perspective.

Ive tried different resolutions and also checked the refresh rate. Will try a restart now.

Cheers for the suggestions, keep em coming!

Another option is to update drivers. Also best to try with another HDMI TV/monitor as well to rule out it's not the TV/monitor you're using.
