I've recently just built an HTPC with the following spec:

Asus P8H67-M PRO Intel H67
i3 2100
4GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate

After installing Windows, I've found that everything works fine so far when using the DVI output, but after I've installed the chipset/graphics/LAN drivers, Windows simply won't load after the logo screen using the onboard HDMI (th whole point of building it). I just get a black screen. I know it's not loading at all because on a reboot I get the option to go into Safe Mode.

I've updated the graphics drivers but to no avail.

Any ideas? Thanks.

is there an option in bios to change which to output to? if your tv is anything like mine it has a hdmi port for a pc maybe try connecting to that one ( if you have it) or boot in to windows with the dvi and lower the resolution then try with the hdmi

It doesn't look like it, no.

I take it your using the on board intel HD graphics?

Yes I am

Ok sounds like the same problem my mate had, insted of the driver on your motherboard, download the latest one from intel themselves, if that does't help let us know.

Yeah I downloaded the drivers from the Intel website but no luck.

Have you checked what driver you are trying to install is the correct version for your operating system eg x64 or x86 ?

Yes.

I even downloaded and ran the Intel System Checker Software Thingemy Doo-dar to make sure. Quite baffling really.

Maybe an issue with your windows display properties and the intel one, check that your display is set correctly in both, sorry i can't help much more then that at the mo as im using my iphone on the train home.

Right, this is very strange. I've used my monitor to force the resolution to 800x600. I've managed to boot into Windows now, but whenever I try to change the resolution to 1920x1080 I get "No Signal" ....and yes it's a 1080p TV lol.

I would probably have hooked up the monitor too. Seeing as you can now get windows to "see" the TV. Check windows update to see if it has an update for the TV display.

It's possible the refresh rate is set wrong for the native res of the display also......which is why you would get no signal.

Very odd problem indeed

Right well.. good news for me is, I seem to have fixed it.

The strange thing is, I really have no idea how. LOL!
