Hi

Just a quick question relating to the HDMI port on the current ATI cards. Im looking at getting a totally passive 5450 maybe to make the ITX build i just did as quiet as possible for HTPC and Blu Ray playback on the TV.

Do all HDMI outs on whatever model card, be it £50 or £500 put out full Blu Ray quality?

Will be connected to a 37" TV so i of course want the Blu Ray quality on that.

Thanks, Scott

Cool, it was hard to find what it outputs and and it confused me that say a £50 card could put out the highest quality.

There is a 5450 that Sapphire do that is totally Passive that i think would do me, as long as it outputs at 1080p im happy...

Just make sure the hardware acceleration is enable for whatever software/player you using for playing the video, so that the decoding uses your graphic card instead of your CPU.

Almost any graphic cards that are not too old would be capable of playing video at 1080p and the quality would be the same...there are more expensive graphic cards because they are better performance in gaming.

Thanks, will keep a note of that to make sure i check.

You don't need to spend £50, get one of these ones:

The HDMI outputs on them are all the same, though I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "quality"?

By quality i mean 1080p, long as it does that i cant complain really!

Thanks for the link, will have a lookise :)

They'll output above and beyond 1080p, the max res they'll do should be 2560x1600, output res on graphics cards is pretty much a constant standard.

The GPU is the what differs between all cards.
