HDMI over CAT5 Extenders

What are peoples experiences with these?

Looking to connect a Freesat box to my cinema room (maybe 30m of CAT5 cable run) - now they always talk about point to point single cabling, but I'll be going via two RJ45 sockets, so a couple of joints in between. Anyone tried this and been successful? My kit will allow 1080p over 100m of CAT5 alledgedly, so I'm well short of the cable limits themselves.

At work we've got the same sort of set up and it works fine.

PC on a table, it's HDMI gets turned to RJ45, then into a floor box that goes to an RJ45 port on a wall elsewhere, then cabled into the adaptor to convert to HDMI.

Works absolutely fine, never had any issues with it.

Saved having a cable on the floor in the boardroom lol.

Going between joins isn't much of an issue, but if you go via a switch then it needs a capable sender/receiver.

I had mine working when I first installed but never really used it, I remember trying about 6 months back and the picture from my laptop kept flickering as if it was struggling to maintain the signal. I just haven't bothered finding the time to properly troubleshoot.

Yeah, I was almost caught out with this, I'm just looking at using CAT5 as a direct wiring connection to transmit uncompressed HDMI data. It sounds like the HDMI over IP kit compresses the data somewhat to send it over a LAN network (would have thought a gigabit connection would be enough). I'll end up unplugging the lounge LAN cabling to use this, anything left there will be happy enough using WIFI.
