HDMI Premiums!

Having never tried it on component (no sockets on our HDTV) I cannot say if it looks better than HDMI. But I play Bioshock on HDMI (well HDMI to DVI) and I am very impressed by the quality and sharpness. Thought it would be blocky but realised the res was 640x480 so whacked it up to 1920x...erm dunno but was really clear. Even the DVD's I ran through it looked better than the componenent to DVI dvd player we have.

Its what i find to be best. I think its at 65 to be exact. I did say around 70 :p.

Looks best to me and where im sitting so i left it like that, i did configure the sharpness for ages.

That's really weird as anything much above 50 (as in 55-56) and you start to get double edges and weird patterns on pretty much any TV and PC monitor I've used.

Erm... why would HDMI ever be blocky unless you had severe corruption?

HDMI to me wasn't blocky, it was the screen resolution. Once I altered the resolution from 640x480 to 1920x something it was fine. Like when you play a game on the PC at low res then whack it up higher and it smooths out (minus the anti-aliasing).

edited: see what u mean, guess i worded it wrong. I meant to say 'HDMI seemed blocky but it was the screen resolution' ;)

Hey Kreeeee,

I suppose every TV is different but where im sitting it looks fine, the sharpness on the TV is very good and doesnt do any of the things when up at high sharpness.

I couldnt think of a better word for the digital effect the HDMI cable gave it, it just had digital artifacts, i should have got a picture, it was only when you were about 20-30cm away to be able to see it.

Hey guys,

i was looking to start a thread, but having found this one i shall ask here. Is it worth getting the elite? i was mainly going to get it for the hdmi output, but if the new premiums are coming with them anyway....

Also is there much difference between the component and hdmi? or is it not that worth it?

Ps, i would be using it on a sanyo 32" hdtv, and it does have hdmi slots.
