I have a Hanns-G HG216 22" Monitor and a BFG Geforce GTX 260 OCX Maxcore Graphics card. When i connect HDMI it worked fine for a while when i restarted the pc the computer wouldnt come on its like it was in standby but this only happens when i connect the hdmi cable from my GFX Card to my Monitor. If i connect it threw VGA It works perfectly. If i keep switching the pc off and on it aventully works, but soon as i restart i get a blank screen and have to do it all over again. Any sugesstions? or Help?

Thanks.

hiya oddjob,

This could be a number of issues and this is what I would do in exactly this order;

1, Borrow another graphics card off someone if you do not have a spare one. Hopefully this will help resolve the issue because VGA works fine although HDMI is broken.
2, If all that fails buy a new HDMI cable from adslnation.com only a few quid and test it or if you have a spare HDMI cable that you know works.... (tried and tested) and you have no success, then the interface is actually broken, so send it back and ask for a replacement.
3, Do not throw your box away that it came in otherwise under "terms & conditions" (small print) you can invalidate your guarantee. Yes I know it is a pain but true!
4, There is a legal right regarding faulty goods to which the retailer has no come back under trading standards and has to give you a refund or replace goods without question within 6 months... That is the Law! I know because I recently helped a friend beat up Vodaphone with faulty goods!

Good luck and I hope everything works well for you soon!
