Hey all. I am trying to connect my pc via HDMI to my tv. When I start windows after the logo the screen goes snowy. I have tried the lead from sky box and all is fine and I have also put the res down low but it still happens.

So i get post and windows 7 logo but then a snowy picture.

Can you connect both at once (assuming at the moment that they aren't)? Try leaving the monitor as the main screen, then look in your control panel for the graphics card to see if it's detected the tv correctly as a second display.

i had to manually configure tv setting in nvidia control panel to get the picture looking correctly, while my other pc with ati ccc i just plug and play. maybe nvidia got problems with hdcp.

Running an nVidia 285 here with no problems. I assume you mean you had an overscan problem when trying to get it "looking correctly", and that shouldn't be a problem if the tv supports 1:1 mapping. For example, on my Regza it was originally set to "Standard" (16:9 but overscanned), but switching to "Native" set it to 1:1 pixel mapping for a perfect screen fit. If the tv doesn't support it correctly though then the control panel scaling is always an option at least.

If the OP's PC is working fine with a monitor, it does sound more like that the tv isn't the happy bunny in the setup.
