Evening all,

I'm looking for a switch, not a splitter duh:

At least 3 HDMI inputs.
One Digital optical out (that supports DTS 5.1/Dolby 5.1)
Something with a remote or supported by a Logitech universal

It's going to have all the consoles going through it, don't think there needs to be anything else specific requirements-wise.

There are a shed load on the market, but keen to know if there are any specific recommendations. If not I'll just buy the cheapest/best reviewed.

Just revisiting this now as I've got some rainforest credit to use.

Specs have changed slightly, in that I've now got 5 HDMI devices that I want to get to the TV. So I'm thinking on a 5 port switch. That's fine, plenty around, but can't find any with digital optical audio out.

So, would getting an extra box, an HDMI audio extractor (that would sit inline after the switch/before the TV), be the right way to go? I'd still want to use the TV speakers for the majority of listening, then my 5.1 amp when everyone else is out.

My worry would be that going through so many boxes, the optical data might not be correct for Dolby or DTS.

I thought optical only supported dd 2.0 due to bandwidth limitations

wouldn't it be easier to switch avr to 2.1 and leave the sub switched off?

Yup, just need the one optical to the amp for all the HDMI sources.

I'm be able to get DTS 5.1 and Dolby 5.1 via optical when connected up. Speaker system is an old Logitech Z5450 system, the sub powers the amp.
