Hi,

I have a Hyundai 241D on the way, it only has 1 HDMI socket and wondered if it would be worth getting a 1 to 2 HDMI splitter so i could have HDMI on both my XBOX 360 Elite and my PC (will also be using DVI to HDMI adaptor).

Would i need an amplifier too to stop signal loss?

nah we use 8 way spillters at work its fine, although Sometimes you lose HDCP Keys. Power cycle fixes this though.

sorry can you explain HDCP keys?

my 360 elite arrived today (still waiting on pc), HDMI looks absolutely stunning compared to vga on the standard xbox 360.

Sorry if this is an absurdly stupid question, but what does the HDMI splitter allow you to do?

Its a box which allows you to connect 2 or more (depending on inputs) HDMI devices into a monitor/TV etc

I have one which connects my PS3, DVD upscaler & Sky HD to the TV.

Would it work the other way around...for example..I've seen one of the bay where you can plug in an input, and have 3 outputs and select which one to use....
So would I be able to connect a cable from my GFX on my PC to the input, and then connect my HD monitor and HD TV to the outputs and select which one I want to use?

I know the 4870 has two connections, but one in is use for something else, and would rather not have to swap cables around

will you want a HDMI Matrix.

anyway HDCP Keys are the interaction between the TV and a HDMI Device that Requires HDCP. (most) HDCP

when using splitters you sometimes lose HDCP Keys (communication, between the TV & your Device) this will cause a Blank Screen on your TV, or if the device has a error message "Your TV Does not Support HDCP"

Power-cycle the TV & the Device fixes this problem as it the TV re handshakes the HDMI Device for its HDCP Keys. this only normally happens if all the HDMI Devices are on Whilst using the Splitter as the Splitter gets confused on which HDCP Keys are For Which Device

i bought a splitter today for it....however it doesnt have any way to change the primary display device meaning im unsure what it will do when i turn on both my xbox360 elite and my pc
