I'm wondering if anyone has done this, and found a lead or anything, that can convert a hdmi signal to a display port? I've seen and found plenty that convert display port to hdmi but not the other way round.

I want to hook up a ps3 to my u2311h through the display port does anyone know if thats possible?

I would simply get a HDMI to DVI lead instead. Your monitor supports HDCP over DVI so it shouldn't be an issue.

what are you talking about? are you talking about the VGA port?

Edit: as said above get the HDMI --> DVI cable or if you have hdmi cable then simply get the adapter but there is one issue with this cable you will have to get sound out of optic or the standard video cable

You could try a HDMI to DVI and then get a Apple DVI to Display Port adapter.

Not sure if it'd work though.

There's actual cables you can buy that have DP on one end and HDMI on the other, wouldn't that work?

That's just a passive cable that can be used with graphics cards which are clever enough to output another signal through the DP port. The cable itself does not convert a displayport signal to a DVI/HDMI or VGA video signal. Hence - it would not work with a console.

There are many active adapters that convert a Display Port video signal to a DVI/HDMI/VGA video signal (often for use with eyefinity or apple computers) - however these are one-way. So you need to find an active adapter than converts from DVI/HDMI to DP - which isn't very common and will most likely be expensive.
