Hi,

I know some adaptors don't work without buying expensive ones, for digital to analog etc

But as hdmi and DVI are both digital, will a simple cheap adaptor do the job? I'm wanting to plug a male hdmi into the adaptor and then the adaptor the onto the male DVI coming from my monitor (temporarily for a PS3)

Thanks!

Edit. Just realised there won't be any sound then. Still I'd be interested to know if an adaptor would work for the video

Not sure about the male to male would a dvi to hdmi cable not be the same thing? Do you just want to link the ps3 to a monitor and have sound and video? I think you just need the cable for the video but im not sure what you will do with sound :o

Thanks for the replies

I'll order an adaptor then and use an optical cable for sound to a set of speakers

Rofflay, the reason why I wanted an adaptor rather than a cable is because my monitors are wall mounted with the cables in trunking, so didn't want to move all that just to plug a different cable in temporarily :)

Edit... If the adaptor works, a female dvi to make hdmi cable wouldoprobably work too if that's what you meant
