HDMI to DVI cable question

I'm about to order a HP w2207h monitor which comes with HDMI and VGA connections. My 8800 GTS has only DVI outs so obviously I either need an adaptor or cable.

Questions then:

  1. Does it make any difference if I go cable or adaptor?
  2. Is there anything specific I should look out for? i.e. things I've seen mentioned which are a bit confusing such as: single-link, dual link, DVI-(?), female or male etc.
  3. Am I going to notice any difference in quality on a £5 cable off of the bay as opposed to a £20 store bought cable?

Thanks

1. Shouldn't do, just less likely to disconnect if use a cable rather than an adaptor.
2. The 2207 only goes up to 1920x1200 so single link is fine. If going above this then would need a dual-link cable.
3. Very unlikely as is a digital signal. Most people here seem to see no difference.

Cheers... ordered one from the bay for £5 inc P&P. A fraction of the price some retailers stock them at
