HDMI to Ethernet baluns

I want to send a 1080p signal down an ethernet run that is less than 20m.

i bought a set off ebay for about £11 but they won't work at 1080p and even at 1280 x 720 they were repeatedly losing signal for a second or so.

Not looking to spend a lot as its just to transmit the video signal from NVR to TV so won't be used often.

I assume this is possible without using baluns that require separate power ?

any recommendations on which ones to buy ?

Whether you use it frequently or not has no bearing on anything. You need it to pass 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz reliably, and an £11 balun kit from eBay isn't enough spent to achieve that.

Powered baluns will help since the construction will be better. Also look at whether that require a single Cat cable or two. Most of the cheaper kits need two until you get up to HDBaseT level where one is enough because the signal is more robust.

Look at the specs. They should give distance, signal resolution (pixels) and the refresh rate (50 or 60 Hz). .ake sure that whatever you choose can do 1080p6 60Hz at the distance you require.

I’ve used Neet ones with reasonable success. I am however looking to switch over to streaming over WiFi so these will likely become redundant. Might be useful in the future I suppose!

Cat6 is in the wall/ ceiling already.

Did you solve this?

I had a similar issue. My ~20m HDMI lead running to my projector suddenly stopped working after about 10 years. I had 2 x CAT 6 cables in there as backups, expecting to need to use both for a (relatively cheap) HDMI extender.

However, I found this for £15, which requires 1 cable only, and it works flawlessly so far: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MCSFWW4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I really wasnt expecting it to do the job at that price.

EDIT: My setup is 1080p@60hz max.
