Hey so i have two monitors, one monitor is working find but my graphics card only has a DVI-A, DVI-D and two HDMI both monitors are VGA so i have a DVI-A to VGA converter that makes this monitor work. I also have another one and a HDMI to DVI-A. So basicly i am trying this at the moment.

HMDI - DVI-A - VGA

It seems to hack picked up the monitor and it knows its there but nothing is displaying just looks like its on stand by but my mouse can go over there like it exists.

Any help on this would be awesome!

Thanks.

Surely you mean DVI-I on the graphics card?

Anyway, HDMI is digital only, so it can't do analogue signals at all. Which graphics card do you have?

There are several ways of doing it but they all involve some kind of signal converter somewhere in the link to convert from digital HDMI signal to analogue VGA. The converter will either be at the VGA end or the HDMI end or in the middle if you also convert from HDMI to DVI. They aren't that much to buy.

Spend tons of money money a 680 but use monitors from the dark ages? Forget about VGA. It's 2013. :P

You should give model numbers if you would like people to assist you efficiently.

Hey, nothing wrong with VGA..still using it to drive 1920x1200 here, had nothing but over/underscan problems with HDMI...

DVI is definitely where it's at though :D

Well I'm not that upto date on monitors as mine is about 5 years old but I know that most TVs won't do 1080p using VGA. Plenty can and do but most say 720p maximum on the VGA port. It's something that used to come up quite often in Xbox 360 threads. Maybe that's the problem? Try setting a lower resolution to see if that works.
