Hi all

So for years I've always thought HDMI was the better connection for my monitors however a lot of people I've spoke to have said they use Display Ports instead, Is there a big difference in these two connections and what are the benefits of one over the other?

At the moment I game on a Acer S240HL @ 60hz with a HDMI connection, looking to move up soon though, I'm not sure whether to go 1440p 60hz or 1080p 144hz

Any advice and info is much appreciated

Thanks

So at the moment your HDMI connection is fine. It will run at 60Hz 1080p no problem at all.

This: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video Is a good chart to show that HDMI is good at 1080p for quite high refresh rates. Even up to 1440p at 120Hz as long as you have HDMI 1.4 or newer.

Some interesting info in there thank you :)

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful and atleast I know I'm not missing out on anything using HDMI :p
