Hdmi vs dvi

It depends on the monitor. For 120Hz you need to use a dual-link DVI cable. The actual image quality on both DVI and HDMI is exactly the same - that's why you get converters that work just fine (HDMI to DVI and vice-versa). The only real advantage of HDMI is that it also carries an audio signal (hence its use on games consoles) but in some cases monitors (particularly Samsungs) actually suffer strange image problems when using HDMI instead of DVI. HDMI cables are also a little more compact and easier to connect and disconnect.

pcm2 can i refer you to this thread Click just wondering if it is possible to run a 120hz samsung using a hdmi cable while still being able to use the 120hz

I find that some tv's/monitors with hdmi inputs can be incompatible with some cards, my zotac h55 itx's hdmi output will not behave well some brands of tv, i could never get to output 1650 x 1080 correctly. never had such issues with dvi, its just a bad combo though, but can still happen.

Im using HDMI out on my laptop atm as main rig is down. Using an HDMI to DVI adapater the 226BW is pin sharp.
