Hi,

A friend I believe has a HDTV with a hdmi connection. He wants to connect the hdtv to his pc...

Now I remember the days with S-VIDEO but has this all now changed since the launch of HDTV??

Can you attach a convertor on the svideo input on your gpu so the signal is converted to HDMI? if that makes sense..or do you need a new gpu with its own HDMI connector?

Also is the point of putting a HDMI input on a gpu so that you can watch hdtv / blueray quality movies??

Please clarfiy, I'm confused...

Thanks in advance..

Cheers

what connection should the gpu have?

dvi on gpu and hdmi on monitor?

does this mean you can connect to plasmas?

does your card have two dvi ports or one vga and one dvi and also do you want to still have your monitor attached aswell as your plasma

my card has 2 dvi ports its a 7900gtx...

but I am asking in general...

how do you connect a gpu to a plasma? do you need a hdmi port on the gpu?

thanks

no you don't need hdmi port on the graphics card the dvi port will work, you need a dvi to hdmi cable the dvi end into graphics card hdmi end into plasma but make sure you drop your windows res down to 1280 x 720 first .

thanks for this , its really useful :)

make sure you drop your windows res down to 1280 x 720 first .

can i ask why? are you saying I wont be able to game at like 1280 x 1024 or wider?

Please clarify

cheers

1280 x 720 will get you to your desktop for sure soon as your into windows you can play with the resolution to see what your plasma can and can't do, you should be able to play games at 1920 x 1080 interlaced or if you have a native 1080 screen in progressive scan thats the only reason i say put in in 1280 x 720 just to be safe to start with.
