Hi there,

Im getting a plasma that I want to connect to my ati 4890 gpu that has 2 dvi ports and 1 svideo port

I have 2 tfts that plug into the 2 dvi ports which leaves only the svideo port available to use to connect to my plasma. Svideo is analogue whereas HDMI is digital so I wanted to use one of the dvi ports.

Does this mean I cannot have 2 tfts connected to my gpu as well as my plasma?

please help me solve this

thanks

You cannot connect both TFTs and the Plasma with that graphics card.

What are you going to use the Plasma for with the PC?

to watch films on the plasma

yes my tft has a vga port

i think i will have to change the cabling around each time I want to watch a film - is that true?

Does your TFT have a VGA port?

I don't see where you're coming from with this...

Yes.

Either that or stick a cheap secondary graphics card in with an HDMI connector just for the plasma.

i think i maybe able to use a dvi splitter, so that I can have all three connected at once...

what dya reckon?

i wouldnt suggest complicating things like that. LIke MagicBoy said, you might as well just get another GPU with HDMI out. or you could just take use a DVI to HDMI connector and just swap one of the DVI leads round the back when you want to watch a film, i mean, i doubt you will need 3 monitors on when watching a film on one screen

this is true...

but i would still need a dvi to hdmi convertor right so that I can insert the hdmi cable into the dvi connector which plugs into the back of the gpu? - is that correct?

You can run S-video to VGA - 1 TFT
Then DVI to DVI, thats 2 TFT's sorted.
Then run HDMI to HDMI (HDMI/DVI adaptor) and that's the TV sorted!

Anyone verify that this will work?

S-Video won't run to VGA normally (without adaptors/conversion) and will be a very low quality picture as it's TV SD (about 640x480).
