Have you tried a reboot, different tv or different res.

ouch, new mobo? contact samsung as i'm guessing it'll be a new motherboard needed

You might have corrupt driver, reinstall.
Can you scroll through the laptop screen options, ie show your desktop on both and use it as a extension.

Some more info.when hdmi device switches on i get very poor quality pictures on tv for 2 or 3 seconds
