Hi

Does it matter what version of Hdmi i use for my GTX 580?

Will a HDMI 1.3 be ok for games and films at 1080p?,or do i need 1.4/1.4a?

Might seem a silly/lame question from a member with over 3k posts but ive never used any form of HDMI with computers before:).

In terms of cables - I believe 1.3 cables are physically the same as 1.4 cables - the difference is all on the software end. So feel free to get the cheapest 1.3 cable you can lay your hands on. This one is a decent price.

May I ask what monitor/TV you will be running it with?

The standard 1.3 version should be fine, used that on my media centre at 1080p without a hitch.

Nice monitor.

You are quite correct about needing a mini HDMI - I keep forgeting these cards keep using these annoying connectors (I mean the AMD ones seem to find room for a full-size socket). Unfortunately, I can't see any cables with a HDMI mini (type C) end on OCUK, so I can't give you a link :(

That said, if your monitor has DVI - I would suggest using that connection instead, as you won't have any issues with scaling (which you may with HDMI) and the cables are easy to find (a single-link DVI-D cable will work fine, no need for dual link).
