I can't seem to get HDR + AA at the same time in games like Rainbow 6: Vegas and Far Cry. I've tried setting the AA in game and forcing it in the CCC. I'm running Windows Vista 64, X1950pro with Cat 7.4.

EDIT: Both games are running the latest patches.

I don't think you can do HDR+AA in FarCry on ATi cards, they did release a beta 1.4 patch ages ago that supposedly could do it, but they removed it from the official release as most ppl couldn't get the HDR+AA working (me included).

Not sure abour R6 Vegas as ive never played it.

Yeah well, the games don't do it though. AA in r6 vegas never worked for me, not even forcing it in the CP. I've had both a x1900xt and 8800gts and for both cards the only game where sm3 HDR and AA would work was oblivion. Other games where I could never get AA working are GRAW, splinter cell DA, and stalker.

Maybe this has changed recently though, I sold my cards ages ago.

This used to possible last time I had an ATI card so you could give it a go - Try turning catalyst AI to off - this should stop catalyst drivers from detecting what app you are running and overiding your CCC settings.

You should then be able to force it in the CCC but what the results will be I couldn't say - they do overide the ability to set what you want in some games for a reason.

I cant even get Far Cry and HDR and AA working on my GTS - when I enable them both I start getting transparent textures - not found a fix for it yet since they withdrew the beta patch.

I got it working in Far Cry on my X1800/X1900 cards. Don't ask me how though. :D

get the 1.41 beta patch and

To enable HDR+FSAA...

1) Copy/overwrite the files to your existing Farcry game.

2) Start the game and Select your desired FSAA mode (2-4-6) in the Farcry video menu.

3) Go to the console (~) and...

- type \r_FSAA 2

press Enter

- type \r_HDRRendering 1-11 ("7" looks best, "2" is also nice and has better performance)

again press Enter, leave the console (~) and enjoy!!!

Tip: for best performance in outside levels, don't change your "e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio" value, leave it
at default = "1.000000"

Worked fine for me on X1900XT. BTW the same person that did the Chucky patch for Oblivion is making one for R6V

Any chance you could help me please?.

What patch and driver set did you use Tom?. I've had major artifacts after patching twice and don't like going through it on the original design as it could be better with the fixes.

Any help at all will be appreciated.

OK, As for Driver I havnt a clue sorry It was a year back

IIRC this is the one you want

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1293

You want to patch your game up to pre 1.4 then apply this 1.4 patch

This is a long awaited HDR + AA patch for Farcry.

Good news, we are seeing feedback on the fact that this patch works for both nVidia graphics cards (GeForce series 6 & 7) as well as the ATI X1000 family Radeon X1300, X1600 and the mighty Radeon X1800 XL and XT series.

To enable HDR and AntiAiasing:

1) Copy/overwrite the files to your existing Farcry game.
2) Start the game and Select your desired FSAA mode (2-4-6) in the Farcry video menu.
3) Go to the console (~) and ...

type \r_FSAA 2 now press Enter.
type \r_HDRRendering 1-11 ("7" looks best, "2" is also nice and has better performance) again press Enter, exit the console (~) and enjoy.
Tip: for best performance in outside levels, don't change your "e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio" value, leave it at default = "1.000000"

Hope this helps.
