With everyone using 'HDR' these days I think it's worth politely commenting that people should try and take a good photo to begin with.

It's like everyones just pointing the camera out the window, taking 3 snaps then HDR'ing it to crazy.

Before you take that first exposure, think first whether it's a good photo on it's own merits. If yes, HDR like crazy, if that's your thing. If not, then work at the composition some more and try again.

I did think that people would get the wrong idea reading the first post, and naturally they have. No-one is explicitly 'dissing' HDR here.

It just seems like every man and his dog takes a wonky snapshot, HDR's it and thinks its a photographic epiphany, when it is infact a polished turd.

Get it right to begin with, and you'll end up with a good photo regardless. The photos I've seen Mr Pete Carr post are testament to this. Take a rubbish shot, and all the HDR in the world ain't saving it.
