Have been playing around with a few photo's after a trip to France at the Weekend. Was playing about in photomatix and came up with this:

The fountain bit looks good, but the top third of the image just seems too flat to me. Still, better than anything I've managed to come up with HDR wise! :)

Yep, the tone mapping sent the skyline a bit ....off kilter. The fringing I think is a combination of my camera (fuji s5000) and the 3 images being ever so slightly out of alignment (it was shot using the 3 shot sequential mode). It wasn't shot in Raw, just the usual way

and this one on the previous side of the monument again, from a different angle though. Some slight noise despite using noiseware to remove the majority of it post tone mapping.

The first one seems a bit 'off' to me, i'm not sure how to describe it. It's like it's not as clean cut as it could be.

I like the last one though, the greens are very vibrant and the water reminds me of lightening.

It's the standard lens that the s5000 uses and thus i'm stuck with, the vignetting etc is also slightly exaggerated from the tone mapping that i used in photomatix. Although I could crop the bottom on the first photo :)

seem to look a bit false ... can't quite put a word on it
Lots of hdr stuff does in my opinion, if it's not foggy edges it's ridiculously high contrast or over dark skies. The shots the OP has taken aren't bad but I just don't like the effect.

I like the 2nd one, but youre right Blade, these kind of shots do sometimes have a 'cgi' quality to them! I cant say as I've made my mind up whether I actually like the effect on the whole, but good marks for effort :)

I really like this one, it's got a surreal look to it and the stone fountain seems to be glowing from the lights in the water.
