Hi folks,
Hoping to get some help with regards to all the different settings available now.

I just setup my first oled monitor, xg27aqdgm. I’m confused whether to enable hdr in windows, vsync in game and vrr on the monitor osd. What about settings in adrenaline?

Is there a list of settings that is a must when it comes to the above? Thanks.

If you are going to use FreeSync or G-Sync Compatible then you would enable VRR in the monitor OSD. V-Sync settings can depend a bit on what you are doing but for regular gaming setting V-Sync as desired in game and setting V-Sync in the relevant control panel to use the 3D application setting is the way to go.

HDR will need tuning to your uses and setup, personally I don't leave it on normally and just enable it manually for specific games or applications as HDR support in Windows is a bit meh.

I always have vsync off and vrr on (if not hitting my monitors max easily and frames jumping quite a lot)

HDR on or off depending on the quality of HDR implementation in game (usually not that impressed) and prefer the visual look without HDR (different story with RTX HDR if you're using that - looked better than windows default implementation)

Hello.

There are different opinions on whether HDR should be left on all the time or not. Personally, I don't use enough software that actually has HDR, so I use an application called AutoActions to switch it on when needed... leaving it off most of the time.

if your using nvidia gpu you need to open the nvidia control panel do this ,after settng gsync/free sync to enabled on your monitor. (like my monitors amd freesync premium, but I still use a 4090 and gsync fine)

And I think you need vsync set to always on in the nvidia control panel too. it should be hidden in the all the driver settings.

AFAIK you can set the max hz to lower than your maonitors max and it still works fine, but if you do the above and click the indicator on you will know if Gsyncs working or not

For HDR right click desktop > display settings and HDR in on the top 1/3 of that window

you might wanna use windows HDR calibrator or some such though, your monitor probably has different HDR modes too in its control panel. if you cant enable HDR in windows you need to change that.

if your with AMD then I'd presume you have to do something similar in their drivers settings
