Not sure it'd bother me in practise; its not like VHS where it looks progressively worse as the years go on.

I still dont understand how we used to use them, the quality was hurrendous, especially the old ones that didnt have auto tracking. People still use them nowdays i heard :eek:

ye i know, they were gross. imagine a vhs on a hd 50 inch plasma :eek:
 
Maybe just me but the only REAL difference I can tell is in the pub scene when the faces all look a lot clearer - laughs

all the others look very similar
 
theres a big difference there, but tbh I have the EE box set of LOTR and the PQ looks just as good as the HD 'shots' there. The DVD shots look just the same but with heavy jpeg compression. Those pictures are the same resolution, its an impossibility to improve the PQ without increasing the resolution, only way of doing it is reducing compression.
