HE Store for a Friend ?

Hi All,

Just a quick one for a friend really, I'm just wondering whether i could logon to the Apple HE store with my Uni information (I've done this before) and purchase an Imac for him in his name? I'm just not sure how, or weather that would work..

I don't know about online but they allow it in store

I don't really see why not though. A lot of students probably buy online using their discount but pay with their parent's card or something, try it.

EDIT: Also can anyone tell me how many memory slots are available in the imacs? and whether both the memory and hard disk can be user upgraded without messing up the warrantee?..

2 RAM slots. Nothing else is upgradeable.

Hard drive can be upgraded but you'd void the warranty if you do it yourself. It's a fiddly job and involves removing the LCD panel to get to the gubbins underneath. Nothing like upgrading a standard PC, far more like a badly designed laptop. I've been repairing laptops for years and pulling an Intel iMac apart doesn't appeal.
