Does anyone know if this pump would be powerful enough to go straight up 600mm of vertical tubing then run a ek-xtx 480 and cpu block

thinking of doing a rad box but built under my desk with 2x480 rads and 2xD5 pumps. That way i have many options when changing case etc etc as the box will always be outside the case so i'll only every need the blocks and res inside the case.

BTW this would be my first watercooling attempt but i'm one that favours the motto doing it biggest and best 1st time lol

can you use 7/16 on half inch compression fittings ok ??

was looking at
EK PSC 1/4" Thread Compression Fitting for 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Tubing

No, with compressions you have to match the size exactly

thought so i was like

Just i've been using compression fittings on my fish tanks for years and never had any problems and i like their ease of use.

So you use jubilee or the clamps as i've never been a fan of either

With barb fittings you can use different sizes.

The 7/16 tubing is smaller than the 1/2 barb and it is a little tedious to get on, but once it is on, it won't come off easily so no clips needed

Ah just warm it up with a heat gun and force it on when it cools it shrinks back making it tight..

Right last question before i go shopping, Will apache fans have a good static pressure for the rad i mentioned have i already have four of them laying around so might aswell put them to some good use.

yes, apaches are very good, close to scythe GT's

Also, a mug of hot water is fine :p

I didn't need to heat my tubing up at all. It went on with a bit of patience :)

Right gonna go work on the shopping list and clear up the garage ready for some work :D

i was thinking res(in pc) down to the box at floor level>pump>rad>cpu
or would i be better off with the pump in the case too??

You can do, I just tend to tip the case if necessary and pull the tubing off one of the fittings and drain.

I've had t-lines in the past, but they can have a tendency to stagnate the fluid in there so I stopped using them, but I'm sure everyones mileage may vary :)

Yeah i suppose you mean gunk accumulating in the plug.

I was thinking of just using distilled water and silver kill coil with coloured tubing.

Missus will kill me if i start playing with dyed liquids around the carpet :D

FYI:

D5 Vario:

Quick question mr water cooling master lol

Do i need to add a drain point to a loop via a t piece or something similar??

I second this question... if I was to drill a hole in the bottom front of my case for a drain port should I just have a T where the tube goes from pump to front RAD and open the drain port as and when I need to drain ?

What might be better is a quick release attachment on the pump, then you can just plug the other QR attachment with tubing on it and away you go. Looks quite elegant
