Right, to cut a long story short. My girlfriend had a new JVC headunit at x-mas to put in her Peugeot 206. Now, at the moment the unit it working in the sense that we are getting sound from it. But we cant get the thing to turn on and off with the ignition. I have obviously changed the red and yellow cables round thinking that was the problem but still no joy. Is there anything that can be done perhaps with other wires in the ISO block to help?

Apparently fiats are bad for this but the people in the shop didnt know of an issue with peugeots. (Well it was halfords!! :P )

Does anyone have any other ideas to get the thing working on and off with the ignition coil.

Hope this makes sense!

Any help appreciated!

Get a volt meter and work out which cable in the ISO block on the car is turning on and off with the ignition.

Then match that up with the one required on the HU.

Had the same issue with my Punto. Ran a wire from the ciggy lighter and piggybacked onto the power lead. The ciggy lighter only stays on with the ignition so that worked great and only took 10 mins.

That seems a bit of a pain for the problem though, dont really fancy plugging into the cigarette lighter and leaving it connected in :/

Ive scoped the net and not seen this as a common issue with the 206 though so I thought I was being thick!

I think the 206 has the same problem as the golf. You need to put a fused line to the accessory socket in the fuse box.

Or you can probably buy an adaptor.

10 mins with a multimeter and a soldering iron would have it fixed.

Got any "car handy" mates?

Yeah i can do the job myself i asked which cable was which because I was hoping to do it this evening but now ive decided to wait until tomorrow and look at the head unit manual.

Thanks for the help guys!

Will report back, either sorted or a blown HU!

Sorry I didn't explain it well. You take out the panel covering the ciggy lighter, find the power cable going into the ciggy lighter, attach a cable to that and run it through the dash up to your HU. Ciggy lighter still works as normal the HU is just taking power from it (secretly though) and as the ciggy lighter cuts out with the ignition so does the HU.
