Evening all,

I'm looking for a single DIN head unit with rear USB connection for my iPhone 6. I'm having real trouble finding any reasonably priced ones (sub £100).

I'm really not bothered about having a CD player and really would rather not have it. So has anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers

Fitted Pioneer X560BT units to both our cars, no CD so tiny, has rear USB and AUX plus extension cables for both so you can route then to the glovebox / centre console. We have iPods in our glove boxes and the iPod navigating is nice and quick.

As I have the iPod in my glove box I tend to stream my phone via Bluetooth rather than USB, that works well, good sound quality for calls too. One touch Siri is handy for messaging the missus that I'm just outside ready to pick her up a couple of minutes before I get there :)

The display looks lower res than the unit Finglonga mentioned but not dug into any other differences.

Looks like both can have the display colour changed to match the rest of your dash, the 560 can for sure.

£85 on car audio direct.

Thanks for both the suggestions guys. I've got to say, as much as the £85 price tag is appealing on the X560BT, that LED screen is so ugly, I'm just not sure I could put it in my car.

I'm thinking if I can find the other one at a more reasonable price, that would be the one for me. It looks bloody good. Now can I justify the cash...

Any more suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you have a rubbish old one you wouldn't need then have a look at the range on Halfords, 20% off if you trade one in, info here.

I got the Pioneer DEH-8700DAB under that deal a year ago. I had an awful tape unit in my car so booked the trade in online and paid in store. My unit was listed at around £180 at the time, discounted by 20% online and then when I went in the girl there discounted it by another 20% so it ended up costing me about £125 in the end...if you do use them, hope you get a muppet at the till. :D

E: Also, personally, I've never use the USB, I just stick with using the BT as it's much more convenient, just have to start the car and music fires right up. I only got the DAB unit as at the time the DEH-8700BT and DEH-8700DAB were similar prices and the initial 20% made the DAB one cheaper (before the extra 20% off). I hardly use radio stations but it's nice to have XFM and some others available.

I'd not say £100 is a reasonable price for a car stereo, it's distinctly cheap which is why they are either lacking features or look crap. I'd be inclined to see if you can find something decent second hand

Thanks again for the suggestions chaps. Hou d got me wondering whether to use my phone or a USB drive now!

Halfords also didn't sell the stereo unfortunately. So I've ordered the first one suggested from car audio direct, managed to negotiate a little discount though!

Cheers chaps

It's in!
