I've just setup my Xonar D2 and am looking to get some headphones to go with it.There use is going to be for gaming with the odd mp3. They will be plugged into my pre-amp.
I've narrowed my search down to two pairs that are similar in price:

Sennheiser HD 515
Sennheiser HD 555

What would you folks recommend out of the two that are best for games. Thanks

Haven't heard the Fatality. From other people's comments I've read, they should be quite an improvement. What will you be replacing the mic with?

By the way the Goldrings can still be had for under £45, although a few stores have bumped them up to around £60-£70 recently.

I was looking at one of those logitec usb mics. The ones this site sells. I don't need anything special as i don't talk much when gaming.

sennheiser HD595s are what im using and they are AWESOME:D

I looked at those initially, but wondered if they are really worth nearly double the price of the other headsets. Also thought they might be a bit overkill. I've read though that they are better for music then they are for games, is that correct?

Yeh i've looked at that. Difficult to take anything from it because nobody mentions what they are using their headphones for. It's all well and good saying xxxx are the best headphones i've used, but to someone like me that's not too helpful unless they say what they are best at e.g. games, music, films or a combination of all.
I know from speaker and amp auditioning certain equipment is much better for films then music and visa versa. I just assumed the same would apply for head phones or does it not work that way?
