headphone cable annoyance

My headphone cable is pretty heavy and thick. I was wondering if there was a device to take the weight and keep out off my shoulder? My mum and dad used to have something similar (to what i'm thinking) when they were ironing.

Was there not a trend on reddit where headphone owners were hanging their phones from the ceiling, over so they floated next to their ears? Increased sound quality I hear.

I am sure it was a joke...

I get where OP is coming from! To me, they are so tightly wound, they always seem heavy and highly taut; so the perceived tidy or usefulness factor is lost on me. I have a set of headphones with a coiled cable and they drive me nuts!

I added a basic extension lead, not the most elegant or sophisticated fix. Messy to tidy away though, a tangle magnet.

For future headphones, I vowed to avoid the coiled cable variety as I am ignorant to the pro's over standard straight cables?

Are the cables removable, on higher end ones you can like my Sennheiser's so I bought a new cable that took all the weight out.
