Headphone mic practically silent

I've got a PS Gold headset which works absolutely fine on my PS4 and laptop, but on my tower PC it's basically silent; as in, it's working, and tapping the mic hole activates the mic EQ in Windows, but even shouting it barely picks anything up.

The headphones themselves work fine in terms of speakers. Mic level is +3db in settings, mic volume is 100 in device properties.

Any ideas?

Up the microphone level and try updating the motherboard's audio software. Make sure it's selected as a microphone.

The mic level is already at max. Same thing happens on another PC too.

Which motherboard are you using? Could you take a screenshot of the screen where you're setting the mic level too? :-)

Are you running the same version of Windows on the laptop as the tower PC?
