Hi folks,
Hoping to get some help please. I am looking for a set of headphones that will have multiple uses and to be honest and rather intimidated by the amount of options. I listen to a wide variety of music with the sources mainly being Spotify and music ripped from CD into itunes, as well as some straight downloads from the itunes store. They will also be used for some gaming and movie watching.
In terms of sound, I am no audiophile so have no idea whether this description is of use, but I like to be able to feel in the middle of the music, with the instruments and voices being clear and without everything being swamped in bass.
I have the following requirements
- Over ear type, circumaural I believe the term is (where they envelop your ear completely)
- Closed back as will be used for travel/in lounge with my wife around
- Iphone controls with good mic quality as I make work calls regularly
- Bluetooth wireless ideal, but willing to sacrifice this for the right set
I did try a set of Sennheiser MM450-x, but had several problems with them
1) Uncomfortable when worn for more than an hour or 2
2) Noise cancelling function made the sound go funny
3) Charging port was so tight it kept pulling the battery off the phones
4) Poor mic quality on calls
I assume the tech is identical in the MM500/550 x so that writes them off as well.
The phones remaining on my list to try are all more money than I really wanted to spend
- Sony MDR-1RBT
- Sennheiser Momentum Over Ear (I tried the on ears briefly and wasnt massively impressed, but not sure if they are the same components inside)
- Bowers and Wilkins P7
Ideally I wanted something around the £150 mark, would stretch to £200 for the right pair.
On the face of it the Sonys are the perfect set, just they are £100 too much.
Any suggestions please?
