Hi guys,
I just bought myself a new set of headphones to replace my ageing Sennheisers. They are Equation Audio RP-21s and they sound incredible, not bad for £50 - http://www.equationaudio.com/Professional/rp21.htm.
Now I'd like to get the best out of them so I need a little advice. I have a Videologic Sirocco Crossfire 4.1 speaker system hooked up via the amp to the 'front output' (front) and 'surround output' (rear) on my Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1 sound card. The Hercules has a headphone out which is what I currently have the phones connected to, with 'headphones' selected in the sound card's control panel. The Videologic amp also has a headphone jack but when I hook the phones up to it I don't get any sound if I select 'headphones' in the sound card's control, presumably because the 'headphones' setting only applies to the headphone out, so I have to select '4.1 speakers' or '2 speakers' to get sound. I'd always assumed that running headphones through the amp was best becuase its a pretty decent one, but I'm no expert so I need some advice.
So, in terms of sound quality, what would be the best way of connecting my headphones to my PC?
Cheers
