Hey all,

I'm looking for a pair of headphones. I'll generally be using them for gaming and music.

I would like them to be comfortable to wear and sound cancellation from outside would be a nice bonus.

Im willing to spend a maximum of around £50.

Thanks,
Marky

Which sort of music do you listen to and it's hard to get a decent set of closed for £50 May I suggest you start digging on headfi forums It's a great source for choosing.

Going over a wee bit will be fine but they'd have to be pretty good quality :)
I listen to all sorts of music so it will vary a lot - but rock is a big favourite.

Decide on your max budget and head over to headfi forums currently sifting through myself trying to decide on a pair for around £150.
Apparantly the goldring dr150 are a great bargain at around £60 and are comparable to sennheiser hd600/hd650's but they are open and will leak sound.

They look very nice and very well built - I'd prefer them not to leak too much sound but it's not a huge problem... I'll keep looking but they are differently very nice indeed!

really comfortable and surround sound to

Not bad, but I'd prefer them not to have a microphone on them :)

I'm sure someone will be along recommending the sennheiser hd555 but i'd seriously check out the goldring dr150 especialy when you have £200 hd 600/650 owners saying they are as good if not better.

Wow not bad! Do you happen to know how bad the sound leak is out the back of the phones?

Well I have had grado sr60 and apparantly those leaked a lot but I cant say I thought It was that bad probably about the same as default in ears leak with the volume up max.I think theres very few closed back good phones out there having researched you need to spend a lot of money such as the denon d2000.

A decent soundcard is as essential as a good set of headphones, my newish mobo is equipped with supposedly HD onboard sound, but O.M.G!!!11! it sounded ***** compared to my old Audigy 2 soundcard, which i promtly put in, but have since upgraded.

Now my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer plus Sennheiser HD200's seem to do the trick nicely.

I've had a bit more time to think about it and have realised that Sound Cancellation (From outside) is quite important as I plan to use it whilst playing Rock Band on the drums, as well as using it on an airplane and in the car :)

Any recommendations?

Are you saying:

Canal Phones are better than cancellation phones?

Do you mean the headphones that stick inside your ear?
