Looking to get my son a new set of headphones for Christmas, he's been using a set of Corsair HS70 Pro, but after buying himself a separate microphone, he wants a normal pair of headphones.

He's tried my AKG K702s, but his built in sound card struggles to drive them.

Can anyone recommend a set for less than £150 that are good for gaming and are easy to drive? Thanks.

Maybe get an AMP/DAC or better sound card? It would mean he could get any headphones he wants in the future.

Thanks for the reply, any recommendations please? I haven't bought a sound card for over 25 years, and I've never bought an amp/dac. Thanks again.

Well, maybe consider the SoundBlasterX G6? It's a DAC that you can use with a console, switch and PC. And it gets good reviews and people here seem to think highly of it.

It's on sale at the moment too at a reduced price.

For the price, it's a great shout. It's more gaming than music orientated, but it's still a good shout for mixed use.
