Hey guys,

I have a set of bayer dynamics dt770s but I am really not impressed with them. I don't know if they were buggered when I bought them secondhand but I have ended up listening to my amp and speakers over them due to sound quality. I expected the headphones to be at least as good as my budget system (NAD C320 and B&W 601s both of which must be 10+ years old, probably more).

I run all my audio from my macbook pro through a dragonfly dac so my question is what headphones would you all recommend. I quite like the idea of open back ones because I assume they don't completely isolate you from the real world so if the missus is shouting at me I might still hear her.

Budget is about £200 and I don't mind secondhand but obviously I am a little wary after the DT770s.

Edit: I don't mind closed headphones and the philips fidelio X2 seem like they might be a good option.

All of the above are open backed and are a major step up from the DT770. While the open back allows sounds to leak in both directions, it also enables a far more expansive sound stage, although the size of this varies by each headphone. My own personal favourite is the HD650 but obviously, tastes vary.

A large bunch of reviews for the above...

What type of sound signature do you want?

If I knew what that was I would tell you!

I listen to most types of music but I would say that its quite a lot of indie.

There is a mix of

Hip hop
Indie
