Headphones or speakers.

Whilst gaming, do you prefer doing so with headphones, or speakers?

Just wondering because I have my eye on the Corsair SP2500 Speakers which are meant to be outstanding.
Or if I should maybe buy some gaming headphones intead.

I have a set of Sennheiser 363D's and a Mionix NASH 20. Both imho outstanding for casual gaming

It depends whether you use the pc for music ect? Headphones are good but you cant beat a good home theatre system if you are gaming, watching films and listening to music on the same machine imo.

Headphones. One reason, when your in game chat if your using speakers, then people find it hard to register you above all the background engine revs, or gun fire. At least with earphone on, they can hear your voice clearly on its own

Depends on the game, any kind of FPS game online headphones are mandatory IMO, for other games I will sometimes use speaker. Also there is the point about voice comms above.

Headphones. Much more immersive gaming for less money and zero whinging from the rest of the family.

Headphones if you wanna save those around you from your dangerous ways. Extra-immersion if you get a decent pair of cans, too (don't have to be super expensive, there are some great budget options). My mobo has crappy sound so a soundcard with headphone amp can help as well, in some respects.
