Headphones, sound card advice.

Hi

Unsure if this is the right section for this but....

Want to upgrade my sound for Christmas, so need headphones and a sound card. I have some wireless A50 gaming headphones and while they do a job they mostly suck.

Got 2-300 quid to spend, need to get headphones and soundcard. Then just a mod mic.

Been looking at the AKG K702 + maybe Asus Xonar U7 usb soundcard.

I would also like them to be fairly decent for music, I like all sorts from indie, to rock, to rap to electronic.

Is there anything better in this kind of budget that I should be looking at.

There's plenty of DACs at under a ton that are well rated. Headfi is worth looking at for options. I bought a Meridian Explorer 2 for just over a ton earlier this year. Not compared it to much else, but seems fine.
As for headphones, this is where there's more sonic variance. A gain, Headfi for thoughts.
