Why do all headphones make me feel like my head's being crushed, lol.

I'm looking for a pair that covers my ears but feel light on my skull. I know I sound like a ninny, but 20 minutes is about all I can bear. I've tried in-ear ones too, and they don't stay put, and they make my ears sore too, lol.

Leave your headphones stretched over a few books/box/whatever that is slightly larger in thickness than your head. Even a few hours, certainly overnight and it should do the trick.

AKG light as a feather to me but it depends what ya using them on as mine are too quiet for phone/tab/mp3, Even on my pc there quiet..need a amp to push em up

but the strap on akg's just rests on ya head and they dont squeeze me

Creative Aurvana Live (CAL) are one of the least clampy headphones I've tried and sound decent too.

Philips X1/X2 are extremely comfortable with very little clamping force, as are most akg's.
I also find Sennheiser HD598/600/650 to be very comfortable but with a slightly stronger clamping force. Bear in mind it's subjective and comfort is ultimately down to the individual.

I'd say the HD650s clamp a lot less and are a more comfortable than the Philips actually. As you say though, it's all individual really.

My HD 650s are very comfortable - probably becuase they're the first open back phones I've used - I'd say the clamp is "firm" but they don't get super hot unlike closed headphons - i also wear glasses which mean the arms tend to pinch under most headphones.
As I understand it the 598s are just upgraded 555s? I had a pair of 555s and they were very uncomfortable for extended sessions - TBH I miss my Ovations (special anniversay edition Sennheisers which were very very comfortable) but they are so worn that I think they'd fall aprt if I put them on :)
