Headphones to block out dubstep?

Possibly a slightly weird question but I live in a terraced house and the continual "wub wub" from next door's music is really messing with my concentration when I'm working.

The music isn't LOUD, but the "wub wub, wub wub wub wub wub wub wub" comes right through the wall.

Would noise cancelling headphones block this out? And if so, what do I need to buy?

Thanks!

Any decent noise cancelling should stop you hearing the noise ... but dont be surprised if you can still feel/sense the sound through your body from next door a little bit. Of the sound cancelling headphones I've listened to, i found that because there is no outside sound to listen to, you begin to listen to inside yourself more.

As an alternative, have you tried playing music yourself to drown out the neighbours. I dont mean the latest pop, but more like ambient / chill / synthwave etc etc ... stuff that creates a non distracting base level of noise (which is louder than the wub wub ) which your own mind begins to ignore. By ignoring your created base level, you'll also start ignoring the wub wub.

somafm.com has a wide range of stations which play that sort of stuff. I often have groove salad/classic or deep space one playing in the background.

Pretty sure house rules (+police after contacting them) would have something to say about constant neighbours disturbing sounds and music...

Though good thing is that noise cancelling works best at low frequency steadier sounds.

But they can also cause discomfort/feel of pressure from that "counter noise" signal.
Besides closed ear cup design itself isolating also heat and rising risk of ears sweating.

As Donnie Fisher suggested listening to your own background music by choice may well be a better option.

When other people in the house have the TV on I often put on ambient music myself to help focus better. Often type chillhop into YouTube and click on any of the videos as all are pretty much easy listening.
