Hi Folks,

Just a heads up now that the summer days are here and our other halves want us to break our backs on many household projects!

Wickes are doing a special on 4.8 m decking, its 6.25 a length, which is pretty decent imo.

Just had a look and it really does look like an inferior product, buuuuuuuuuuuuut at £1.37 a meter who can complain, double up the centers of the sub base and your laughing.

Agree, barely 28mm thickness:(, seen better sold elsewhere at 32mm & 36mm finished thicknesses.

How about Selco ones,they wanted £7 a length for 32mm, obviously if its a better quality board then the selco is a better bet. The wickes one is 140mm wide compared to 125mm on the selco one.
 
Guys, ignore my OP!

Popped into Selco, they did me 38mm (4.8m) decking for £7.50, and as they are local, they promised not to send me any bowed or split boards. I was quite impressed they tried their best to get close to wickes' prices despite their board being a better one.Plus they did free delivery, where as wickes wanted £25.

So lesson learned, shop around and don't be shy when it comes to haggling, I got a box of of 1000 screws for half price too.
 
Your lucky to have Selco nearby, I have always found them very a good builder merchant , shame they haven't got more branches closer to me, my nearest one is Bristol 16 miles away:(.

I was impressed with how much they wanted my business. Did everything to get close or beat other prices id had. Lets hope I dont screw the project up now lol
 
You've got half a chance that the decking from the merchants will be there if you need any more wickes will just stock the cheapest they can get which might differ in profile batch to batch
