Hi Guys

Looking for some headset advice.

My GF asked me what I want for Christmas and I said a gaming headset for my PC so she gave me a budget of about 70-100 quid maybe a bit more at a push and told me to pick one. The thing is I'm not entirely sure which manufactures to go with or which headsets are good in general. I would like one with good audio and a good mic. Also one which is comfy for long gaming sessions.
Also which is better, a wireless, usb or analog connection?

So any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Buy some decent headphones and get a seperate mic.

+1

I can recommend Panasonic HTF600's.

Can pick them up for around 30 to 40 quid. check them out on HeadFi.org too.

Couple them up with a cheap/ish soundcard with a built in amp like the Asus Xonar DGX/DGE and you have yourself an audio setup that will par with 150 quid set ups with all their gimmicks.

Add a clip on mic and you're good to go.

I got some Sennheiser HD205 II DJ over ear headphones from Argos, they were half price, down to £30, I got a £5 off voucher from Christmas and my wifes niece works there so got staff discount. I paid £22.50 in the end. Mic? I haven't bothered, people would only hear me swearing at them when I play Ghosts or BF4. If you get normal stereo headphones and want surround you can get a USB 5.1 virtual surround card thing off eBay for less than £3. Got one here, works pretty well and no drivers required in Win 7, just plug it in.
