Hello everyone,

I have a budget of £90 for a new headset and a soundcard. I will be using it for gaming and music. Will I notice a considerable difference using a dedicated soundcard over my integrated or would the money be better spent on just a headset?

Any suggestions would be welcomed :)

Thanks.

Yes you will notice a difference.

I just went from onboard + Speedlink Medussa 5.1 to Asus Xonar DG + Goldring NS1000 and the difference in quality is huge. I thought my Medusa's were pretty decent until I used the Goldrings.

My advice, get this
Asus Xonar DG
Goldring NS1000 (or you could look at the Goldring DR150's, don't think you need the E5 amp with those, there is enough power from the sound card)
Fiio E5 amp
Speedlink SL-8691 Clip Mic

Can be bought for around £90 total.

Virtual Surround is way more effective at producing surround sound for headphones than 5.1 Headsets are. I can't see how you would be disapointed with the above setup, I was amazed when I got it.

Thanks to members from this forum, I recently went for the Fiio E5 amp with the Goldring NS1000 to pair up with my Xonar D2.
I was surprised at how amazing it sounded!
It's well worth the investment, you won't be disappointed!
