Using Asus P5Q-pro motherboard in a Antec 300 case and Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (non-usb version) with the latest Realtek HDA drivers. Connected the case front panel audio up with the HDA going to the HDA pins. I've got my 2.1 sound system plugged in at the back. The 2.1 sound is fine and works with games and music. Try my headphones in the front audio jacks of the case and they get recognised by windows but I cant get any sound going through them! Switching off or unplugging the 2.1 speakers dont help.

Anybody got any ideas how to fix this?

MAKE SURE that in your BIOS the front panel audio is set to AC97, not HD.

Most likely you will have to reinstall your onboard mobo sound drivers, as in your first reboot it won't recognize the front panel audio.

Good luck.
