Hi all, unfortunately my roccat kave 5.1's broke recently - the hinge that allows the cups to rotate snapped while I was putting them on, and unfortunately have no recourse to replace or repair them officially. Part of me wants to buy another pair because I was seriously impressed with them, but another part doesn't want me to spend another 50 notes and have the same happen. Does anyone know of similar competitors? I'd like to stick with 5.1 if possible and a similar budget of around 50-60?

5.1 roccat are pretty much your only choice in that price range.

Fault however is common it's a weak point.

I figured as much. Just seen the corsair gaming headsets on special with ocuk. Anyone used those? It's fake surround but they seem decent.

i find fake surround as good as phsyical surround especially on a decent pair of open back stereo headphones like the AKG K612 PRO

I have had 2 pairs of Corsair hs1500 headsets now (rma'd my first set after 3 years when they developed a fault) V1 and V2 (the replacements sent by corsair) are both very good headsets. 7.1 surround is accurate enough to accuse me of cheating (wall hack) in fps at locating footsteps direction.

I'd buy another pair tomorrow if they broke.

Btw the cable on the wired corsairs is a long length so can't see the benefit in going wireless for the price difference.

Hope that helps...

Andy

I went from a pair of the Roccat's to a pair of Creative Aurvana Lives and honestly as much as you think 5.1 in your ears is a game changer, a £50 set of stereo headphones will blow your mind apart!

Best thing I ever did was bow out of trying to get 5.1 and 7.1 out of my head and simplify it down to stereo.

It's a massive punt into the dark but I made the leap from a forum members advice and I'm so glad I did.

The Aurvana's look cool, but no mic?

How is the mic quality on the H1500's? The Roccat seems to be almost perfect - people on the receiving end always commented how clear it was, and that's something I'd like to keep as I skype quite frequently. I'm going to try gluing the hinge up to see if they're salvageable, but if not, I'm torn between another pair or the H1500 or Hyperx's...
