I ended up up purchasing the SteelSeries Arctis 9x on the XBOX X. I'm very happy with them, despite them being closed cup design.
Took a little while to get used to the soundstage on them as open back work better for me but I wanted a decent wireless set.
I was using my Sennheiser GAME ONE plugged into the pad for ages. But over time was having issues with the mic and sound cutting out (down to the jack input).
The 3.5mm jack input seems quite poorly made on the controllers so opted for wireless. Really glad I did in the end. They are really light and very comfortable for long periods of gaming.
Compatible with PC as well (if you have bluetooth or the windows/xbox receiver). When it comes to sound recommending for others is always difficult as we all look for something different.
I'm happy with the sound, prefer openback but these are actually really good. You do need to connect them to PC in order to adjust the EQ settings to get them more tuned into your preference.
There are 4 presets and 'Happy' is a good balance. The MIC is good but not brilliant it is a bit 'nasally' but is clear and works well for in game comms.
Other options that where suggested to me where Plantronics RIG 800LX Wireless, Astro AS50's and LucidSound LS35X Wireless. I have heard mixed reviews with the AS50 some hating them and others loving them.
The Plantronics I actually bought but promptly returned as they were DOA. Have heard others really liking them. I wasn't keen on the build quality but they were super light, plus I think they come
with a license for DOLBY ATMOS. I use ATMOS and not sure if there is that much difference between that and Windows sonic but it does make a difference in games that support it. As for the LucidSound LS35X Wireless,
again great reviews, maybe hunt down a little info on them on YT. This guy is quite thorough and compares 9x and Lucid set.

There are plenty of reviews online with more detail information I didn't want to prattle on any more
Good luck!
