Current setup
Generally I game or voice chat with my regular speakers blaring and my Blue Yeti mic doing it's thing, and Discord will take care of any feedback problems without issue. However, it doesn't stop my keyboard (Logitech G110) key pressing getting noted by everyone and their uncle as apparently I type pretty loudly. Noise gating hasn't helped much.
For a headset, I have the (pre-HP takeover) HyperX Cloud 2 wired headset. It's been perfect for avoiding the issue of my keyboard because I can noisegate it far more effectively with the mic being so close to my mouth.
However, the wire on my headset is near-death and I'm having to look into a new headset. I'm considering both wired or shifting to wireless. I love the comfort that Cloud 2's provide so I initially wanted to just replace them like-for-like, but now I am hearing that since HP took over HyperX the quality has been going downhill.
FWIW, I'm no audiophile, so don't need the best of the best or anything like that. Most of my time is still spent with music/games blaring from my speakers, as mentioned. Headsets are for when I game with friends on Discord once a week or so.
So, with all that:
1) Has anyone switched from the old Cloud IIs to the new ones? Any thoughts on a quality change?
2) Does anyone have suggestions for replacing a Cloud II with something else entirely that still excells particularly in comfort? As a glasses-wearer that likes his ears being fully encased (and I don't have tiny ears), comfort is really important to me.
3) If anyone happens to have insights on avoiding a mechanical keyboard level of noise hitting a microphone, even better.
