I'm sure this must have been covered before but I'm struggling to find a decent wireless headset for my ps4.

Ordered the official wireless 2.0 and the Mad Catz FREQ 9 to try. The first has ear cups that are too small (give be terrible hot ear!) and the latter have a noticeable continous buzz in the right ear.

So, what's wireless, with nice big cans and good sound quality?

Thanks. Not cheap, are they! Probably more than I wanted to spend really. Wish I had somewhere local to go and try some on.

They are not cheap thats for sure but worth every penny imo. People often forget how important sound is in a game and it does really add so much to the games atmosphere. Thinking about that it's strange that very few if any game reviews mention sound, it's always graphics yet that is only part.

Great wireless headsets with a mic do not exist, I've tried them all. Wireless=expensive too. I just use the bundled thing if online and play sound on my Bose sound system in night time mode.

Rubbish. Might just get a cheap pair of Clouds or something then.

Why, if you can afford the A50's get them you won't be disappointed, no idea what Davewhite04 is talking about, his definition of great must be different to mine.

I really can't justify them. Would be a week's wages new!

Just agreed an RMA with MadCatz for the FREQ 9s, they say they'll replace them with the Tritton Katana HDs so I'll see what those are like. If I don't get on with them I could sell them and look at a used pair of A50s or something.

I did loads of research on review sites ect. Decided on some A50s. Changed my mind in the shop and got some turtle beach XO ones that were about a third of the price. They are alright but wish I'd got the better ones every single time I use them. They'll go on eBay for a fraction of what I paid then I'll end up buying the A50s anyway.
Buy once buy right.

sorry to thread hijack but i have a kind of similar question. i'm after a headset, but for the xbox one. don't mind if it's wired, and i have the new white controller that has an aux option. any suggestions? would need a mic as will be used for online play

I've decided the only option is to try all of them :p

Lucid sound LS30 and Astro A50's are both on their way from ebay and I'll also have the Tritton Katana HDs to play with one Madcatz process my RMA. I'll report back any conclusions!

Well, the A50s arrived. Really comfy, pretty good sound (if a little bass heavy), but an annoying low level buzz in the right ear and loads of static whenever I talk on the mic. Really annoying.

Edit - rolling back to older 4142 firmware on the headset removed the constant buzz but using the mic still generates white noise in the headset.

There's an EQ on the side that may help with the bass.

I've never had and buzz or static even when I wonder around the house. Try re-pairing the base and headset or moving the Mixamp away from other electronics.

Yeah using the middle preset, still a little heavy on the bass for my taste. The buzz and mic static is a common issue if the Astro forums are any indication - official response seems to be "turn the music up so you can't hear it"!.

Older firmware has partially fixed the issue, but it's still not ideal and I'm not convinced the sound quality is quite as good.

Also, the headband has annoying sharp bits when resting them around your neck :p

Astros back up on ebay now. I don't like the EQ, I don't like the pokey bits, I don't like the mic static and it took me about an hour last night to get the high pitched ringing noise out of my right ear after I stopped playing. Shame, because the surround sound implementation was really good and the earcups were nice and comfy.

Fingers crossed for the LS30s arriving tomorrow!

I recently purchased a set of Sony MDR-ZX770BN Wireless and Noise Cancelling Headphones for £99, I'm using these for my phone/tablet but are bluetooth so I presume should work on PS4... anyway I'm really pleased with them, and they have a cable if you want to use them wired too.

Thanks, they're not compatible with ps4 though according to a quick Google.
